Quirks

The things no numeric field carries, and the things that actually break builds.

high-passedmic-in / MIC

Karaoke mic channels are almost always high-passed somewhere between 100 and 150 Hz to keep handling noise down. Anything with real low end, a kick drum especially, will sound thin through it.

dc-biasmic-in / MIC

The mic contact usually sits at a few volts of DC through a bias resistor, to power an electret capsule. Connecting a line output to it couples that DC into the source, so a series blocking capacitor is wanted.

mono-input

One TS jack, one channel. A stereo source needs summing before it gets here; plugging a TRS plug in simply shorts the right channel to ground.

bridged-output

The speaker terminals are usually a bridged pair with neither side at ground. Do not tie SPK- to any other ground in the system.
